Marcum - Mr. and Mrs. Bill Marcum
50th wedding anniversary celebrated July 7, 2001
Billy W. and Marydee Marcum of Boyd were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 7, 2001.
Marcum married the former Mary Peterson July 7, 1951, in Fort Worth.
He is a reitred master electrician. She is retired from the banking industry.
Residents of Wise County for more than 42 years, the Marcums have a daughter, Kathy Fetters and her husband, Mitch, of Decatur; a son, Billy Marcum Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Boyd; and six grandchildren, Brett and Mickey Kelley of Decatur and Abby, Mary, Kelly and Sarah Marcum of Boyd.

Mares - Veronica DeLeon and Manuel Mares Jr.
Marriage vows to be exchanged Aug. 11, 2001
Veronica DeLeon, daughter of Ramiro and Maria DeLeon of Decatur, and Manuel Mares Jr., son of Manuel and Maria Reyes Mares of Decatur, will be married Aug. 11, 2001, at Central Fellowship Church in Decatur. Filemon Gallegos will officiate.
The bride-elect is a 1998 honors graduate of Decatur High School and is a senior at the University of North Texas in Denton.
The prospective groom is employed by Poco Graphite, Inc.

Mares (2) - Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Mares Jr.
Marriage vows exchanged Aug. 11, 2001
Veronica DeLeon and Manuel Mares Jr., both of Decatur, were married Aug. 11 at Central Fellowship Church. Pastor Filemon Gallegos performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ramiro and Maria DeLeon. The groom is the son of Manuel and the late Maria Reyes Mares.
The bride was escorted down the aisle by her mother along with her brother, David DeLeon. She wore a white, short sleeve, off-the-shoulder satin gown adorned with cut crystals and a cathedral-length appliquéd train.
Her flowers were white calla lilies and pink lilies accented with lace and ribbons.
The maid of honor was Maria Isabel DeLeon, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Wendy Avina of Denton, Sandra Calzada of Dallas and Rosa Alvarez, all friends of the bride.
They were dressed in black and white spaghetti-strap, floor-length gowns with shawls.
The flower girls were Ruth Sanchez, daughter of Juaquin and Betty Sanchez, cousin of the bride; and Violeta Chavez, daughter of Alberto and Mandina Chavez, friend of the bride.
Serving the groom as best man was Elijio Mares, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were David DeLeon, brother of the bride; Jose Martinez, cousin of the bride; and Abelardo Ruiz, friend of the groom.
The parents of the bride and groom took part in a candle-lighting ceremony.
The guest book attendant was Juanita Vega.
Soloist was Areli Rodriguez.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Decatur Civic Center, hosted by the bride and groom. Helping serve was Nina Galvan, friend of the couple.
The bride is a 1998 honors graduate of Decatur High School. She is a senior at the University of North Texas and is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma. She is employed at UNT.
The groom is employed by Poco Graphite.
The couple resides in Decatur.

Marsh - Mrs. Eric Lane Marsh
Formerly Betsy Ann Boatner; Marriage vows exchanged Oct. 20, 2001
Betsy Anne Boatner and Eric Lane Marsh, both of Washington, D.C. were married Oct. 20, 2001, at Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur. The Rev. Joseph Pemberton officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles K. Boatner of Decatur. She is the granddaughter of Alice Boatner and the late Charles K. Boatner of Fort Worth and Anita Eckstein and the late Francis Eckstein of Jasper, Ind.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pawol of Clovis, N.M. He is the grandson of Charles Novotny and the late Cora Belle Novotny of Pratt, Kan. and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Marsh of Sun City, Kan.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. She wore a gown of silk shantung adorned with Venetian lace from her mother’s wedding veil. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of purple and white irises, delphinium, solidago and other flowers.
Matron of honor was Angela Kwentus of North Attleboro, Mass., the bride’s sister. Maid of honor was Emilie Thenard of Washington, D.C. Bridesmaids were Angela Gilbert, Elizabeth Boatner and Mendy Marsh.
The flower girl was Jacquelin Kwentus, the bride’s niece.
Best man was Kris Knight of Everett, Wash. Groomsmen were John Chandler, Scott Liebertz, Gary Simms and Drew Tatum.
Usher was Danny Eckstein, the bride’s cousin.
Music was provided by Michael and Jonathan de Guzman, Charles Boatner, brother of the bride, and his wife Elizabeth and Dorothy McKay.
A reception was held at The Club at Runaway Bay.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was also held at The Club.
The bride received her bachelor of arts degree in geography from the University of Texas at Austin and her master of science degree in natural resource policy and behavior from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She is employed by Amazon Alliance for Indigenous and Traditional Peoples of the Amazon Basin.
The groom earned his bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Notre Dame and his master of science degree in natural resource policy and administration from the University of Michigan. He is employed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Following a wedding trip to Ruidoso and Santa Fe, N.M., the couple lives in Washington D.C.

Angela Beth Anderson and Todd Wayne McCormick were married July 7, 2001, in the home of the bride’s parents in Paradise.
The bride is the daughter of Charlie and Laura Anderson of Paradise and McCormick is the son of John and Paulette McCormick of Decatur.
The bride is a 1995 graduate of Paradise High School. The groom is a 1993 graduate of Decatur High School and a 1997 graduate of Tarleton State University.

Diedra Dianne Hamner of Chico and Matthew Charles McGruder of Columbia, Mo. were married Sept. 5, 2001, in the Grand Teton National Park near Jackson, Wyo.
The bride is the daughter of Janice and Donald Hamner of Chico. The groom is the son of Sheryl and Charles R. McGruder of Columbia, Mo.

Meyers - Laurie Gandee and Matt Meyers
Marriage vows to be exchanged Aug. 25, 2001
Laurie Gandee, daughter of Roger and Jane Gandee of Weatherford, will marry Matt Meyers, son of Fred and Cindy Meyers of Bridgeport, on Aug. 25, 2001, at Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford.
The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Azle High School and a 1999 graduate of Tarrant County College. She is a dental hygienist for 21st Century Dental in Las Colinas.
The prospective groom is a 1994 graduate of Bridgeport High School and a 1998 graduate of Tarleton State University. He is employed by Allstate Insurance in Fort Worth.

Brian Loveless of Clermont Baptist Church of Clermont, Fla., brother-in-law of the bride, officiated the double ring ceremony at the Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a spaghetti strap gown with a full tulle skirt. She wore a bun wrap headpiece with fingertip length veil.
She carried longstem white calla lilies bound with a satin ribbon.
Maid of honor was Deanne Davis of Arlington. Bridesmatron was Jenny Loveless of Clermont, Fla., sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Valerie Gandee of Weatherford, sister of the bride. They wore two-piece sleeveless gowns in victorian lilac. Each carried a single white calla lily.
Ushers and candlelighters were Jason Stevens of Fort Worth and Doug Jones of Bridgeport.
The best man was Tracy Caywood of Houston. Groomsmen were Richard Vidal of Bridgeport and Greg Reasoner of Chico.
Pianist was Dale Richmond of Weatherford. Soloist was Jenny Loveless of Clermont.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Family Life Center at Victory Baptist Church.

Following a trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica the couple live in Hurst.

Natasha Marie Conover of Rhome, daughter of Jim Conover of Grand Prairie and Terri Conover of Jacksboro, and Phillip Timothy Robert Miles, son of Robert and Vicki Miles of Rhome, were married May 12, 2001. The Rev. Mike Stephenson of the Rhome Assembly of God Church officiated the double-ring ceremony at The Club at Runaway Bay.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a princess style gown with a chapel length train. She also wore a rhinestone headpiece with a chapel length veil. She carried a bouquet of tangerine roses with yellow accents.
Matron of honor was Shawna Lidster of Denton, sister of the bride. Bridesmatrons were Amanda Hughes of Rhome, cousin of the groom; Tanya Ledger of Rhome, sister of the groom; and Shanna Young of Lake Jackson, cousin of the groom. They wore long tangerine dresses with bouquets of yellow and tangerine roses.
The flower girl was Lauren Herndon, daughter of Dana and Jeffery Martinez of Rhome and cousin of the groom. The ringbearer was Eric Conover of Jacksboro, brother of the bride.
Best man was Austin Butler of Rhome, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Chris Miles of Rhome, Jimmy Miller of Decatur and Ricky Young of Lake Jackson, all cousins of the groom. Soloist was Kelly Denti of Keller.
A reception was given by the groom’s parents at The Club.
Following a wedding trip to Walt Disney World Resort, the couple live in Rhome.
The bride graduated from Jacksboro High School and attended Tarrant County College. She is a self-employed artist.
The groom graduated from Northwest High School and attended Midwestern State University. He is employed by James Wood Motors.

Amy Elizabeth Bigbee of Houston, daughter of Dr. Dalton Bigbee of Kingsville and Anita Bigbee of Bishop, will marry Michael Coleman Miller of Plano, son of Raleigh Miller and Ann Dunning, both of Decatur on Dec. 15, 2001, at the First Presbyterian Church in Houston.
The bride-elect is a 1993 graduate of Bishop High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1998 with a bachelors degree in chemical engineering. She is employed by Accenture as a consultant in Houston.
The prospective groom is a 1988 graduate of Decatur High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1994 with a bachelors degree in biomedical science.He is employed as a manager with Accenture in Dallas and is a reserve deputy for the Wise County Sheriff’s Department.

The bride-elect is a 1997 graduate of Irving High School and is a senior at Dallas Baptist University.
The prospective groom is a 1998 graduate of Decatur High School and a 2001 graduate of Dallas Baptist University with a bachelor of arts degree in communications.

Montgomery - Mr. and Mrs. Donald Montgomery
Marriage vows exchanged March 17, 2001
Valerie Kilgore and Donald Montgomery, both of Dallas, were married March 17, 2001, at Eagle Drive Baptist Church in Decatur. John Featherston of The Colony Church of Christ officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Paul and Patricia Kilgore of Kemp. The groom is the son of Ronnie and Sharon Montgomery of Decatur.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a floor-length white satin gown with a princess waistline and a scalloped neckline. The gown was embellished with embroidered lace and accented with pearls and sequins. The white satin headband and tuling were accented with pearls belonging to Mae Dell Simpson, the groom’s grandmother.
She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses accented with blue and yellow roses and greenery. She also carried a white lace heirloom handkerchief belonging to Mrs. Simpson.
Matron of honor was Kathy Bautista of Denton, sister of the bride. Bridesmatron was Sara Burrow of Krum.
They wore light blue floor-length satin dresses and carried a single white rose.
The flower girl was Carmen Bautista of Denton, the bride’s niece. The ring bearer was Stratton Simpson of Chandler, cousin of the groom.
Serving as candlelighters and ushers were Luke Burrow of Krum and Cliff Spain of Decatur, the groom’s cousin.
Best man was Marcus Simpson of Chandler, cousin of the groom. Groomsman was Monty Shipp of Aubrey, cousin of the groom.
Guest book attendant was Jennifer Spain of Decatur, cousin of the groom.
As part of the ceremony, the groom and the groomsman lighted a candle in memory of their best friend, Dale Robertson.
The bride and groom lighted a unity candle to the music, “From This Moment On.”
Following the wedding, a reception given by the bride and groom’s parents was held at the Decatur Sheriff’s Posse grounds. Servers were Rayna Spain and Laurie Delgado of Decatur, Sandy Parris of Lewisville and Amy Montgomery and Michelle Montgomery of Grand Prairie, all cousins of the groom.
Following a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple live in Dallas.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Kemp High School. She attended Navarro College in Corsicana. She is employed by Public Service Plumbers in Dallas.
The groom is a 1992 graduate of Decatur High School and attended Weatherford College. He is employed by Denton County in law enforcement.

Michele Gail Garrett of Dallas, daughter of Kenneth and Barbara Cansler of Chico, will marry George Clark Moore III of Belton, son of George and Patricia Moore of Bridgeport, April 7, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Belton.

Morris, Roy - Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morris
50th wedding anniversary July 14, 2001
Roy Hulen and Georgia Morris will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Cottondale Church of Christ. The reception is hosted by their children and spouses, Janice and Paul Knight and Sheri and Mark Neeley. The couple were married July 14, 1951, in Paradise.
Morris and the former Georgia Cleveland also have two grandchildren, Erin and Taylor.
He is retired from Acme Brick Company. She is retired from Paradise ISD.

Morris, Willie - Mr. and Mrs. Willie D. Morris
50th wedding anniversary Aug. 17, 2001
Willie D. and Melvadean Morris of Alvord will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, with a family dinner at K-Bob’s in Decatur, hosted by their children. A reception will be held later in the home of their son Darrell Ray and his family in Paradise.
Morris married the former Melvadean Western Aug. 17, 1951, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church between Alvord and Decatur.
They have two sons, Rickie Dale Morris and wife, Teresa, of Breckenridge and Darrell Ray Morris and wife, Leresa Ann, of Paradise; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is retired from Bell Helicopter Textron. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was secretary of the Alvord School Board for several years.
She is a retired bookkeeper. She was active in the Alvord Parent Teacher Association serving in various offices, including president. She is a member of the Chico Chapter No. 433 Order of the Eastern Star.

Lisa Reneé Rushing of Dallas and Willie Carl Murphree of Decatur were married Sept. 29, 2001, at My Place on the Lake in Runaway Bay. Judge L.B. McDonald officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of James T. Owens of Henderson.
The groom is the son of Pat and Gloria Murphree of Decatur.
The bride wore a white gown accented with white pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses accented with a purple center rose.
Maid of honor was Jessica Black of Dallas, daughter of the bride. Bridesmaid was Greta Smith of Decatur, sister of the groom. They wore lavender and grape dreeses and carried bouquets of white and purple roses.
Flower girls were Baylee Murphree of Decatur, daughter of the groom and Emily Smith of Decatur, niece of the groom.
Best man was Mitchell Morris of Arlington. Groomsman was Jerry Owen of Decatur.
A reception, given by the bride and groom, was held at My Place on the Lake.
The couple live in Decatur.
The bride graduated from H. Grady Spruce in Dallas. She is employed at My Place on the Lake.
The groom graduated from Decatur High School. He is employed at Classic Auto and Muffler.

Angela Devon Nichols of Alvord, daughter of Gaylynn and Penny Wheelis of Alvord and Joseph Nichols of Albuquerque, N.M. and Bronze Adam O’Neal, son of Robert and Beverly O’Neal of Martinsburg, Pa. were married Nov. 24, 2000, at First Baptist Church in Alvord.
The Rev. Ken Herring officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride was escorted by her father and step-father. She wore a white sleeveless, straight, satin dress accented with a beaded bodice and train. Her mid-length veil fell from a crown accented with pearls and jewels. She wore matching shoes and earrings.
She carried a bouquet of white stephanotis and white and green roses accented with black beads and black chiffon ribbon.
Maid of honor was Megan Nichols, sister of the bride, of Alvord.
Bridesmatrons were Sarah Morrow, cousin of the bride, of Chicago, Ill., Lanie Nivens of Azle and Nicole Doyle of Arlington.
They wore black and white satin, strapless, tuxedo style, floor length dresses accented with black, beaded, frog closures. They carried bouquets of pink roses accented with black chiffon ribbon.
The flower girl was Hayden Parker, cousin of the bride, of Alvord. She wore an ankle length, white, satin dress with a chiffon overlay accented with a crown of pink roses and black ribbon. She carried a white basket and scattered pink rose petals.
The candlelighters were Tyler and Whitney Bell of Alvord.
The ringbearer was Ian Stanfill, cousin of the bride of Frisco.
Best man was Joe Sanders of Martinsburg. Groomsmen were David Meadows, brother-in-law of the groom, of Huntingdon, Pa. and Wade Henry, cousin of the groom, of New Enterprise, Pa.
Ushers were Johnny Bosley of Alvord, Jason Bridgeman and Justin Morris, both of Decatur.
The guest book attendant was Jennifer Wise of Redding, Calif.
Pianist was Peggy Carter of Denton. Soloists were Megan Nichols and David Meadows.
A reception was held at the church. Servers were Brooke Meadows of Huntingdon and Bethany O’Neal of Martinsburg, both sisters of the groom, Yolanda Gambill and Kristi Hunt, both of Bowie. Following the reception a celebration was held at El Ranchito.
Following a short honeymoon in Fort Worth, the couple moved to Germany where they are stationed for three years in the United States Army.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Alvord High School. She is a Serbo-Croatian linguist in the Army.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Central High School in Martinsburg. He is a Russian linguist in the Army.

Kandi L. Koch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Koch of Dallas, and Scott Oates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Oates of Decatur, will be married Sept. 22, 2001, at the old church in the historical park at Farmers Branch. The Rev. Mark McLendon will officiate.
The bride-elect attended the University of North Texas and was in the Chi Omega Fraternity. She is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines.
The prospective groom is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He is employed by Southlake Construction.

Kandi Lee Koch of Dallas and Scott Oates of Justin were married in a double ring ceremony Sept. 22, 2001, at the Old Church in the Historical Park in Farmers Branch. Mark McLendon, cousin of the bride, officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Koch of Dallas. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Oates of Decatur.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white, sleeveless, empire waist, satin gown adorned with beads from the waist up. On the back, covered buttons trailed down to a pleat with beads and lace inside the pleat pannel, all the way down to the bottom of the train. Her elbow length veil was accented with pearls.
She carried a bouquet of ivory, freesia and misty blue roses.
Maid of honor wass Casey Koch of Bryan, sister of the bride. Bridesmatrpms were Cyndi Carrick of Trophy Club and Paige Hudec of Allen. They wore a Victorian lilac two-piece satin ensemble with a sash and crystal jewelry.
The flower girl was Rachel VanDuyne, daughter of Scott and Colleen VanDuyne of Richardson.
The ringbearer was Chase Coffee, son of Marlin and Kim Coffee of Carrollton.
Best man was Lance Bell of San Antonio. Groomsmen were Billy Large of Carrollton and Jamie Stone of Decatur.
Ushers were Frank B. Koch Jr. of Dallas, the groom’s brother and Nate Dains of Bryan.

The bride is the daughter of Dale Morrow of Fort Worth and Wesley and Miki Campbell of Bridgeport.
The groom is the son of Jerry and Linda Orr of Boyd.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Michaelangelo gown with a satin halter, trumpet skirt and detachable train. The white dress and train were accented with Battenburg lace appliqués. Her headpiece featured a braided pearl bun wrap accented with pearls throughout her hip-length veil.
She carried a tropical bouquet with two large Lamotcha lilies.
Matron of honor was Becky Morrow of Bridgeport, the bride’s aunt. Maid of honor was Brianna Morrow of Bridgeport, cousin of the bride. They wore fuschia spaghetti strap satin gowns with silver shoes. They carried a tropical bouquet with one large Lamotcha lilly.

Remmele and the former Betty Killough were married March 24, 1951, in Decatur.
He is a retired dairyman and is a farmer and rancher and is on the Wise Soil & Water Conservation District board.
She retired from nursing in 1982 and is a homemaker. They have both been members of the First Baptist Church in Cottondale for 46 years.

Marriage vows exchanged July 21, 2001
Afton Geneva Hughes of Paradise, daughter of Kim and Randy Hughes of Paradise and Clinton Sean Royse of Paradise, son of Debra Woolsey of Bedford and Leslie Royse of North Platte, Mo. were married July 21, 2001.
The Rev. David Frizzelle of Minden, La. officiated the double ring ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Paradise.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore an ivory, floor-length chiffon gown with a split front overlay of chiffon. The empire waist and bodice were made of satin adorned with tiny pearls in a floral pattern. She also wore an ivory chiffon shoulder drape.
She carried a fresh flower bouquet of Gerbera daisies, red roses, fire and ice roses, yellow solidago aster, purple stock, purple lisianthus, blue delphinium, yellow freesia and purple statice.
Fresh flowers, to match the bouquet, were worn in her hair.
Maid of honor was Chrissi Richey of Paradise, the bride’s cousin. She wore a cobalt blue, floor length, backless crisscross gown. She carried a bouquet of Gerbera daisies, roses, stock, solidago, freesia and statice.
The flower girl was Cora Roman, daughter of Marcia Reiff and Jaime Roman of Fort Worth.
Candlelighter was Jacoby Gentry of Paradise, the bride’s cousin.
Ringbearer was Kaynen Farrow, the bride’s cousin and son of Keitha and Kevin Farrow of Paradise.
Best man was Shiloh Hughes of Paradise, brother of the bride.
The usher was Brody Gentry of Paradise, the bride’s cousin.
A reception, given by the bride’s parents, was held at the Salt Grass Steakhouse. Servers were Karen and Amber Watkins, the bride’s aunt and cousin of Paradise and Keitha Farrow of Paradise, the bride’s cousin.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple live in Paradise.
The bride is a student. The groom graduated in 1999 and is employed by Randy Hughes Trucking.

Emily Beth Hoekstra of Burleson and Kaleb Kent Rutherford of Decatur exchanged wedding vows Jan. 6, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church of Burleson. The Rev. Jim Sanders officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Susan Winn Hoekstra of Burleson and Jim and Candace Hoekstra of Joshua.
The groom is the son of Billy and Paula Rutherford of Decatur. Grandparents are Ring Hoekstra of Harrison, Ark., Wendell and Joyce Winn of California, Mary Rutherford of Decatur and Paul and Treva Fitts of Bowie.
The bride was escorted by her father. Paula-Beth Rutherford, sister of the groom, provided music.
The bride wore a floor-length sleeveless white satin gown with embossed white roses adorned with lace and pearls. Her cathedral-length veil, which was her mother’s wedding veil, had been modified to add a blusher.
Maid of honor was Dena Joyce Hoekstra, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Billie Goodsite Hoekstra, sister-in-law of the bride and Jessica Lee Camp. They wore floor-length plum gowns and carried silk bouquets.
Junior bridesmaid was Deanne Hoekstra, sister of the bride. Flower girl was Amanda Hoekstra, sister of the bride. Both wore ivory dresses.
Best man was Ben Lockwood of Denton. Groomsmen were Adrian Paredes, Chris Carter and Mark MacDonald.
Ushers were Dave and Jeremy Hoekstra, brothers of the bride.
Ringbearer was Chandler Russell Stearns, the bride’s nephew. Junior groomsman was Kory Morris.
During the lighting of the unity candle, Paula-Beth Rutherford played Little Star by Jim Brickman.
The couple exited the sanctuary to the theme song from Mission Impossible.
Following the ceremony, a reception, catered by the bride’s parents, was held in the fellowship hall of the church.

Following a wedding trop to Mazatlan, Mexico, the couple live in Denton.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Burleson High School and is attending the University of North Texas, pursuing a degree in international studies. The groom is a 1998 graduate of Pensacola Christian School, he attended Weatherford College and is employed at Microsoft in Irving where he is pursuing his certifications.

She carried a hand-tied bouquet of tropical orange, hot pink and yellow roses accented with white stock and Italian ruskus.
The matron of honor was Tammye Reed of Farmington, N.M. The maid of honor was Shayne Joseph of Decatur. Bridesmatrons were Marsha Hafer of Benbrook and Kylie Slaten of Alvord, sister-in-law of the groom. Bridesmaids were Laura Grove, sister of the bride, of Grapevine and Courtney Slaten, niece of the groom, of Keller.
The bride’s attendants wore full-length empire style dresses with spaghetti straps in an iridescent eggplant color. They carried bouquets of roses, tied with ribbon.
Best man was Kelly Slaten, brother of the groom, of Alvord. Groomsmen were Brad Slaten, brother of the groom, of Keller, John Gibbon, brother of the bride, of Decatur, Jason Smith, Josh Smith and Kip Hardin, all of Decatur.

Warren and Shirley Spain celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 13, 2001, at the YMCA Optimus Building in Corsicana.
They were married Oct. 13, 1951, in Waxahachie with Rev. Clyde Spain Jr. officiating. They resided in Dawson from 1986 to 1997 and now reside in Hallsville. Warren Spain is a former Wise County resident.
The party was hosted by the couple’s three children, Brenda Davis of Hallsville; Patti Clayton of Moore, Okla.; and Douglas Spain of Dawson.

Stephens and the former Betty Rolf were married Jan. 29, 1951.
They have four grandchildren, Gregg Teal and wife, Tricia, Jaime and Samuel Teal and Jacob Stephens.
He is a retired printer from Higgins Printing in Fort Worth and is a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Boyd.
He was in the Navy from 1952 to 1955 and is a member of the Gideons International.
She is a retired sales representative of Nationwide Papers in Fort Worth.
She is a member of Women on Mission at the First Baptist Church in Boyd and works at Memory Lane Gifts in Decatur with her daughter.

Bridesmaids were Amy Garrett of Dallas, Amy Wells of Hurst, Leanna Brush Watson of Mount Vernon, Shelli Petty Strickland of Sulphur Springs, sister of the bride, and Shelley Taylor Simmons of Tipton, Okla., sister of the groom.
The bride’s attendants wore deep sage sleeveless dresses with metallic gold threading on the boucle bodices. They carried bouquets of blush, Tiffany and sterling silver roses.

Marsha Deanne Massingill and William Dwayne Taylor were united in marriage on Dec. 17, 2000, at Thistle Hill in Fort Worth. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Elder Joe Ray.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Massingill of Bridgeport. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Bruster of Bridgeport and Mrs. Beatrice Massingill of Fort Worth and the late Mr. Bill Massingill.
The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lindsey of Bridgeport and Mr. and Mrs. Dale King of Morton, Miss. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Hancock of Paradise and Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Swanson of Foley, Ala.
The bride was presented in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.
She wore a floor-length crepe overlay white gown designed by Jacquelin. The sleeveless bodice featured a sweetheart neckline and was adorned with delicate pearls and iridescent sequins. Pearls and iridescent sequins also accented the chapel-length train. The elbow-length tulle veil was fashioned with pearls and crystals. The bride carried a fresh bouquet of white calla lilies hand-tied with white tulle.
The matron of honor was Melissa Buntaine of Alvarado, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kim Reasoner of Bridgeport and Amy Hammer of Gainesville. Their navy floor-length dresses were accented with navy shawls. Each carried a single long-stemmed white calla Lilly adorned with Christmas greenery. Flower girls were Jade Keller and Amanda Kasner, cousins of the bride. They wore matching navy floor-length dresses with shawls and carried Christmas kissing balls. Serving at the guest book was Shaunda Keller, cousin of the bride.
Serving as the groom’s best man was Samuel Taylor of Morton, Miss., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Jason Wilder of Bryan and J.S. Powers of Bridgeport. Ringbearer was Kane Trammell, cousin of the bride.
A reception was held at Thistle Hill immediately following the ceremony. Members of the house party were Sommer Holley and Kayce Phillips. A rehearsal diner was hosted by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Lindsey, on the Thursday preceding the wedding at the Italian Inn in Fort Worth.
Marsha and Dwayne are both 1997 graduates of Bridgeport High School. Marsha is a senior at Texas A&M University, pursuing a degree in psychology. Dwayne is a December 2000 graduate of the Texas A&M Police Academy and is presently employed as a sergeant with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department. Following a wedding trip to South Padre, the couple will live in Bryan.

Bill Austin, the groom’s stepfather, officiated the double ring ceremony at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church pavilion.
The bride was escorted by her stepfather, Bob Haley. She wore a long strapless gown with a dropped waist. The bodice was adorned with beaded embroidery. The full skirt of tulle, banded with satin flowed into a tea-length train. She carried a bouquet of orange and yellow tiger lilies, alstroemeria, yellow and white roses and white daisies accented with organdy ribbon.
Matron of honor was Stacy McNeely, sister of the bride, of Roanoke.
She wore a coral colored sleeveless sheath dress and carried a bouquet of tiger lilies and alstromeria.
The best man was Scott Toombes of Fort Worth.
Ushers were Travis Austin of Keller and Billy Austin of Carrollton, both stepbrothers of the groom, Shane Strauss of Springtown and Ryan Davis of Decatur, nephew of the bride.

A reception, given by the bride’s parents, was held on the grounds of the church.

James Jackson, former youth minister at First Baptist Church in Decatur, officiated the double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church in Decatur.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a gown of moonlight satin with pearls and crystals appliquéd on the bodice and a chapel-length trail. Satin roses held her veil, which was double-layered with white trim and scattered with crystals and pearls. She carried a bouquet of spring flowers including pink and white roses, peach gerbera daisies, Bell of Ireland, yellow freesia, heather and tulips.
Matron of honor was Angie Browning of Kerrville. Bridesmatrons were Meredith Andrus of Dallas and Melissa Bedford and Paige Moossey of Decatur. Tracy Teague of Dallas was a bridesmaid. The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a white slipper satin gown with beaded spaghetti straps and a chapel length train. The fitted bodice and the gown were embellished with beads, sequins and silver embroidery. The headpiece was a halo of crystal beads with a cathedral-length veil.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white lisianthus, purple freesia and seeded eucalyptus.
Maid of honor was Carmen Powlen of Garland, sister of the bride. Bridesmatron was Kathryn Grona of Conroe. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Talley of Alvord, Leslie Bain of Decatur and Melissa Spencer of Gunter.
They wore floor-length amethyst skirts and tops overlaid with silver thread and with beaded spaghetti-strap tops. They carried all-white bouquets of stock, snap dragons, freesia and agapanthus.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white matte satin halter style gown accented with an embroidered lace bodice covered in seed pearls and crystal sequins.The Basque waist dropped to a v-shape, floating over a multi-layered, tulle and matte satin skirt embroidered with lace medallions. The floor-length skirt held a matching multi-layered cathedral train. Her veil was of a Spanish design that matched the dress and train. The bride wore white elbow length gloves and carried a bouquet of white lilies, pale yellow roses and stephanotis and English ivy.
Matron of honor was Renee’ De La Rosa of Austin. Bridesmaids were Jamie Erwin of Bridgeport, Shelly Rangel of Alvord, Cierra Bivens of Bowie, Amy Hiler of Keller, Jean Straughn of Jacksboro and Penny Brown, cousin of the bride of Bridgeport. They wore floor-length A-line gowns of a corn-silk gold matte satin with a ivory iridescent floor length jacket. Each carried a bouquet of long stem pale yellow Virginia roses. The junior bridesmaid was Alicia Erwin of Bridgeport. Her gown featured an ivory lace bodice covered in seed pearls and crystal sequins with a multi-layered floor-length tulle skirt. She also carried a bouquet of pale yellow Virginia roses.
Flower girls were Taya Wright and McKenna Waddell, both cousins of the bride and Lacey Erwin. They wore ivory floor-length gowns. They carried baskets of rose petals.
Ring bearer was Garrett von Ree, son of the groom. Junior groomsman was Dustin von Ree, son of the groom.

She carried a small cascade of white roses, lavender, statice, freesia and gardenias with a lilac ribbon and greenery.
Maid of honor was Misty Walker, sister of the groom, of Fort Worth. The bridesmaid was Jennifer Kates, cousin of the groom, of Grand Prairie. They wore long, satin, sleeveless lilac gowns and carried bouquets of delphinium with ivory bows.
The best man was Alba Walker, father of the groom and groomsman was Phillip Walker, brother of the groom, of Cleburne. Clint Mobly, of Grand Prairie, served as usher.

Geary and Linda Washburn of Decatur celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary with a reception Dec. 9, 2001, at The Club at Runaway Bay.
Steven and Lance Washburn and Lana Sharpless hosted the celebration.
Washburn and the former Linda Stevens were married Dec. 8, 1961, in Decatur.
They have two sons, Steven Washburn of Runaway Bay and Lance Washburn of Denton.
He owns Geary’s Tax Service and she is retired from Poco Graphite.
They are both members of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.

Willie and Joyce Watkins of Paradise will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary July 7, 2001, at Maggiano’s Banquet Room in Dallas, hosted by their children and grandchildren, who are also giving them a 7-day cruise to Alaska.
Watkins and the former Joyce Pittman were married July 9, 1951, in Bridgeport.
They have five children, Carolyn Largent, Johnny Watkins, Binky Gentry, Shirley Richey and Kim Hughes, all of Paradise. They also have 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is self-employed and is a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Paradise. She is a housewife.

The empire waistline extended into a V-shaped design. The dress featured fingertip long sleeves covered with lace, seed pearls and sequins. The chapel-length train featured a large bow. A fingertip veil was attached to a rhinestone tiara with white satin roses.
She carried a cascading bouquet of burgundy and white roses with wisteria, English ivy and greenery with pearls, tulle and burgundy and hunter green ribbon.
Maid of honor was Kirstie Ledet of Alvord. She wore a burgundy satin, backless, floor-length dress.
Bridesmaids were Jamie Blake of Chico, sister of the bride; Angie Watson of Chico, sister of the groom, Lyndi Smith of Bridgeport and Nikki Blake of Chico, the bridal couple’s daughter. They wore hunter green floor-length dresses. They carried single burgundy roses with wisteria and English ivy accented with hunter green and burgundy ribbon.
Cameron Blake, the bride and groom’s son, carried his mother’s train.
The flower girl was Emily Burdine of Alvord, the groom’s niece. She is the daughter of Lila and Cody Burdine. She wore a satin hunter green dress.

Margaret Liane Hunt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wesley Hunt of Decatur, married Army Private Forrest Benjamin Williamson, son of Charlotte Long Williamson of Decatur and Dr. and Mrs. Gary Wayne Williamson of Athens, on June 2, 2001, at the home of the groom’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ray Long in Decatur. The Rev. Charles Wallace of Hubbard Cumberland Presbyterian Church officiated.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a sleveless white matte satin gown with a scooped neckline. The bodice was covered with beaded Battenburg lace and the floor-length skirt had a semi-cathedral length train. Her veil was a crown of rolled, flat satin flowers studded with round pearls, oat pearls and rhinestones. The frame was edged in pearl rope creating a flower scroll edge. She carried a bouquet of red roses, baby’s breath and white amaryllis.
The maid of honor was Kendra Leeann Hess of Abilene and the bridesmaid was Shelby Lynn Owens of Decatur. They wore floor-length deep red satin gowns and carried bouquets of red roses and amarylis.
The best man was Jacob Andrew Williamson of Austin, brother of the groom. Usher was Arnold Ryan Hunt of Decatur, brother of the bride.
Flower girls were Lauren Marie Hunt, niece of the bride and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wesley Hunt of Corinth, and Charlotte Elizabeth Chirakadze, niece of the groom and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Chirakadze of Tblisi, Republic of Georgia. The ringbearer was Tanner Wesley Hunt, nephew of the bride and son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wesley Hunt.
Bessie Watson of Decatur was the organist. Soloist Jessica Allen Decker of Decatur sang “The Rose.”
A reception hosted by the bride’s parents followed the ceremony at the Radisson Hotel in Denton.
Following a wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, the couple live in Lawton, Okla.
The bride is a 1997 Decatur High School graduate who is attending Weatherford College to earn a finance and accounting degree.
The groom is a 1998 Decatur High School graduate who attended Weatherford College. He is a crew member for a U.S. Army multiple launch rocket system.

Wilson - Jessica Ruth Dorsey and Cody Wade Wilson

The bride-elect is a graduate of Slidell High School and is majoring in business at North Central Texas College. She is a manager at Payless Shoe Source in Lewisville.
The prospective groom is also a graduate of Slidell High School. He is majoring in math at Texas Woman’s University. He is a student assistant for TWU basketball and is employed by Brinker International at Chili’s in Grapevine.

Katie Briane Patterson, daughter of Rick and Debbie Patterson of Paradise and George Washington Woolsey, son of John and Melinda Woolsey of Mills Creek, will be married Nov. 10, 2001, at the Pattersons’ home.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Doyle and June Patterson of Paradise and Neal and Marlene Ivester of Grapevine. She is a 2001 graduate of Paradise High School and is employed by Giebs Veterinary Clinic.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Nadine Henry and the late Jack Henry of Weatherford and Wanda West and the late Bubby West of Texarkana. He is employed by Smith Oilfield and Environmental.

Cicily Shantel Miles of Houston, daughter of Robert and Vicki Miles of Rhome and Christopher Keith Word of Humble, son of Ronnie Word and Bonnie Grons, both of Humble, were married March 10, 2001, at Rhome Assembly of God Church.
The Rev. Michael Stephenson officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a two-piece taffeta gown with a chapel-length train and veil. She carried white roses and calla lilies.
Maid of honor was Amber Young of Rhome, the bride’s cousin. Bridesmatrons were Tanya Ledger of Rhome, sister of the bride, Heather Lee of Fort Worth and Amanda Hughes of Rhome, both cousins of the bride. Bridesmaid was Tasha Conover of Rhome.
They wore floor-length silver dresses and carried calla lilies.
Flower girls were Danielle Word of Houston, the groom’s niece, Nanette Word of Houston and Danny Word of Humble.
Ringbearers were Branden and Bradley Stephenson and Michael and Karensa Stephenson, all of Rhome.
Best man was Adam Piserelle of Houston. Groomsmen were Danny Word of Humble, Phillip Miles of Rhome, Robert Kielberg of California and Jason Patterson of Houston.
Ushers were Austin Butler of Rhome and Ricky Miles of Loganville, Ga.
Soloist was Les Davidson of Chico.
Following the ceremony, a reception given by the bride’s parents was held at the Holiday Inn North.
Following a wedding trip to Oahu, Hawaii, the couple live in Houston.
The bride is a third-grade teacher for Spring ISD. The groom is employed by Coca Cola of Houston.
