marry Morris Duane Allred Jr. of Fort Worth, son of Morris Duane Allred and
Bonnie Allred of Snyder, July 16, 2005, at Hilltop Assembly of God in Boyd. Jeff
Strickland, youth pastor for Colleyville Assembly of God, will officiate.
The bride-elect graduated from Boyd High School in 2001 and is attending Texas
Tech University. She has been a member of the Texas Tech Student Trainer
Association and worked for the football program from 2001 to 2004.
The prospective groom is a 2000 graduate of Snyder High School and graduated
from Texas Tech University in 2004. He is attending Texas Christian University,
pursuing a master of education degree. He is employed by the TCU athletic
department. He was also a Texas Tech Athletic Trainer from 2001-2004 and was a
member of the Texas Tech Student Trainer Association, serving as vice-president
in 2003-2004.

is the daughter of Bill and Debbie Smith of Gainesville and Terry and Candie
Stewart of Mansfield.
The groom is the son of John Bailey and the grandson of Margie Provence, both of
Bridgeport.
The bride was escorted by her sons, Casey Riggs and Kyle Riggs. She wore a
full-length gown with beading, silk stitching and a train.
The bride is a graduate of Decatur High School and the Ogle School of Hair, Skin
and Nails. She is employed as a hairstylist by Ray and Co.
The groom is a graduate of Bridgeport High School and the Dallas Institute of
Funeral Services. He is employed by Hanson Industries.

July 2, 2005, at Sunshine Celebrations in Paradise. Bill Cleveland from First
Baptist Church in Alvord will officiate.
The bride-elect is a full-time student at American Trade Institute, earning a
degree in respiratory therapy. She will graduate Jan. 16, 2006. She is employed
part-time at the Prada Bistro.
The prospective groom graduated from Weatherford College in August 2003. He is
employed by Metal Works Specialist in Boyd as a precision welder.

Marriage vows exchanged July 2, 2005
Amanda Dawn Mayberry of Paradise and Joshua Paul Bain of Decatur were married
July 2, 2005, at Sunshine Celebrations in Paradise. The Rev. Bill Cleveland of
the Alvord Baptist Church officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Teresa Mayberry of Paradise.
The groom is the son of Danny and Lisa Neighbors of Decatur.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin form-fitting dress with a
beaded bodice, spaghetti straps and a chapel-length train. Her headpiece was
made of rhinestones and her veil was a single layer of tulle edged with satin.
She carried a bouquet of pink roses, pink alstroemeria and baby’s breath
hand-tied with pink satin ribbon.
Maid of honor was Jessica Mayberry of Paradise, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids
were Leslie Fowler of Alvord and Brittney Bain and Makala Neighbors, both of
Decatur, sisters of the groom, and Amanda Mayberry, sister-in-law of the bride.
They wore fuchsia strapless, fitted tops and long, straight skirts. They carried
a bouquet of assorted summer flowers.
Flower girl was Rachaé Fowler of Alvord, niece of the groom, daughter of Kase
and Leslie Fowler. Ringbearer was Jacob Tennery of Yukon, Okla., cousin of the
bride, son of Sam and Michelle Tennery.
Best man was Chad Johnson of Paradise. Groomsmen were Kris Goggins and Ken
Goggins, both of Sulpher Springs and cousins of the groom, and Jacob Mayberry of
Paradise, brother of the bride.
A reception followed the ceremony. Randi Eyster of Decatur was a server.
The bride is a graduate of Paradise High School. She will graduate from American
Trade Institute December 2005 as a respiratory therapist.
The groom is a graduate of Paradise High School and Weatherford College. He is a
metal works specialist.
Following a honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the couple lives in Paradise.

The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Bridgeport High School, received a
bachelor of science degree in animal science from Tarleton State University and
a masters degree in agriculture from Western Kentucky University.
The prospective groom is a 1999 graduate of Daystar Christian Academy and
received a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from the University of
North Texas.
They both teach and coach at the Mineola Independent School District.

Church officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Millie Holley of Bridgeport.
The groom is the son of Gentry and Sheila Castleman of Bowie and Paul Ray and
Mona Baird of Forestburg.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white, A-line gown of chiffon with
beaded spaghetti straps. Flower-shaped beaded Schiffli lace adorned the bodice
and hem. Her headpiece was a tiara and an elbow-length veil with two layers
adorned with pencil cording and pearls. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses
surrounded by blue delphiniums.
Matron of honor was Jennifer Ballard of Cave City, Ken. Maid of honor was Casey
Holley of Bridgeport, sister of the bride. Bridesmaid was Jennifer Andis of San
Antonio. The honor attendants wore navy A-line gowns with spaghetti straps. They
each carried a yellow rose.
Flower girl was Olivia Parr of Alvord, cousin of the groom, daughter of Scotty
and Melanie Parr. Ringbearer was Kyler Holley of Bridgeport, nephew of the
bride, son of Jason and Stephanie Holley.
Best man was Mark Mattix of Bowie, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Michael
Mize of Lindale and Brett Baird of Forestburg, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Jason Holley of Bridgeport, brother of the bride, and Russell
Blanton of Wichita Falls, cousin of the groom.
Guest book attendant was Whitney Baird of Forestburg, sister of the groom.

A reception followed the ceremony in the church’s fellowship hall. Servers

June 25, 2005, at the home of Jerry and Mary McKeever in Chico. The Rev. Bill
Cleveland of the First Baptist Church of Alvord officiated the double ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Bo and Gloria Biediger of Alvord.
The groom is the son of Don and Robin Barnes of Decatur and Mike and Debbie
Dzurovcin of Akron, Ohio.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless satin gown with lace overlay
made by her mother. It had a detachable train and the bodice was adorned with
hand-sewn beaded pearls. Her headpiece was beaded and she wore a waist-length
veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses and babies breath with pink and light
blue satin ribbons.
Maid of honor was Kaela Biediger, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Stacy
Biediger, Shemane Watts, Mitzy Schumert and Candice Biediger, all sisters of the
bride. They wore strapless gowns with pale pink bodices and A-line black skirts.
Flower girl was Taylor Etter of Cordova, Tenn., niece of the groom and daughter
of Jason and Kristin Etter. Ringbearer was Rubert Huber, nephew of the bride.
Best man was Jason Barnes of Cordova, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Bubba
Hartfield, Daniel Ruddick, Troy Nivens and Andy Thompson.
Ushers were Grant Biediger of Alvord, brother of the bride, and Chance Mitchell
of Wentzvill, Mo., brother of the groom.
Reception servers were Ann Jackson, Margie Barnes and Mary McKeever, all aunts
of the groom, and Taylor Adams, sister of the groom.

Fiftieth wedding anniversary Jan. 1,
2004
High school sweethearts Alvin and Carolyn Blythe Bassham of Keeter celebrated
their 50th anniversary with friends and five generations of family members
Sunday, Jan. 2, at the Decatur Civic Center.
Several members of the wedding party were honored including mother-of-the bride
Margaret Blythe, best man Don Bassham, groomsman Sam Kiker Jr., bridesmaid
Gwende Dean, reception attendant June Shilling and singer Evelyn Martin.
Other honored guests were Alvin’s high school football coach, Bob Howard, and
wife Evelyn of Laguna Park.
Items including Carolyn’s wedding dress and veil created by her mother were on
display and the tiered cake served at the celebration included the top from
Carolyn’s parents’ 50th anniversary cake from 1985.
The Bassham’s daughter, Rebecca Bishop, assembled a display of the couple’s
art work and photos of Alvin and Carolyn performing as clowns, Big Red and Shy
Violet, and as Santa and Mrs. Claus through the years.
A film of the 1955 reception and music from the 1950s performed by Bobby Cargill
and band played throughout the celebration.
As a cherished gift, the couple received a vase that was given to Carolyn’s
grandparents on their 50th anniversary in 1960, then to her parents on their
50th anniversary.
Alvin retired from TXU after 39 years and Carolyn worked as secretary in Fort
Worth.
The Basshams are active in the Church of Christ and Carolyn has taught Bible
correspondence courses and recently on-line courses to students all over the
world.
They have three children, Alvin Ray Bassham Jr. and wife Patty, Rebecca Bishop
and husband Robert, and Brian Bassham and wife Mona; 10 grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Bond of Bryan celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Jan.
1, 2005.
Allen Bond and the former Glen La Ray Rieger, formerly of Decatur, were married
Jan. 1, 1945, by the Rev. E.T. Miller of Wichita Falls.
They have three children, John and Diane Bond of Bryan, Merrill and Roy
Kirkpatrick of San Antonio and Glen H. Bond of Bryan. They have five
grandchildren, Amy and Jon Fisher of San Antonio, Brent and Shelly Bond, Wesley,
Matthew and Ashley Bond, all of Bryan. They also have one great-grandson,
Jackson Fisher of San Antonio.
Allen retired after 34 years of banking. The couple moved to Bryan after Allen
was discharged from the Air Force in the Philippines in 1946.

performing musician.

Following an extended honeymoon at the groom’s family summer home in Athens,
Greece, the couple will live in Denton.

gown that had a dropped waist with a champagne sash that extended to the
semi-cathedral length train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of jade roses,
white calla lilies and stephanotis embelished with pearl and crystal pins.
Matron of honor was Curren Wicker of Decatur, sister of the bride. Maid of honor
was Jessica Goodwyn of Lubbock. Bridesmaids were Amy Wolfe and Whitney Goodwyn,
both of Lubbock, Ashley Chapman of Decatur and Jessica Mack, of Denton, sister
of the groom.
Honor attendants wore celadon green strapless, tea-length gowns. They carried
hand-tied bouquets of white calla lilies.
Flower girl was Camden Wicker and ringbearer was Carson Wicker, both of Decatur,
niece and nephew of the bride, children of Brandt and Curren Wicker.
Best man was Ricky Brown of Red Oak, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Cole
Butler and Gregg Markwardt, both of Red Oak, Brad Easter of Houston, John
Kagorgis of Fort Worth and Joe Russo of Keller.
Ushers were Brandt Wicker of Decatur, brother-in-law of the bride, Dean Miller
of Lubbock, Geoffrey Fisher, cousin of the groom, and Cody Smith of Midlothian,
nephew of the groom.

Stravagante Strings of Dallas. Soloists were Shelby Ivy of Ponder, aunt of the

They both graduated from Midwestern State University with a bachelor of science
degree in nursing and are employed by Covenant Health System in Lubbock.
Following a honeymoon to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple lives in Lubbock.

Caldwell and the former Monisa Rinker of Graham were married July 2, 1955, at
Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving. He is employed by Wise County. She is a
homemaker. They have been residents of Decatur for 34 years.

Spain. She wore a white strapless sweetheart style dress outlined in black satin
and accented with black and silver beads on the bodice, train and around the
bottom of the dress. She wore a single-layered veil and carried a bouquet of red
roses.
Ashley Chapman of Decatur was matron of honor and Miranda Salmon of Dallas
served as maid of honor. Bridesmatron was sister of the bride Patti Peterson of
Spain; bridesmaids were Jeannie Diaz of Lubbock, Amanda Meador of Denton and
Amanda Carpenter of Austin, sister of the groom. The bride’s attendants wore
black empire-cut silk dresses gathered on the left shoulder and accented with a
diamond brooch. They carried Nicole roses and stems of crystals gathered with
berries.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless white gown of layered chiffon
with an empire waist accented by a fully beaded scalloped top. Her headpiece was
a rhinestone tiara with both a fingertip-length veil and a detachable cathedral
length veil, each trimmed with pearls and rhinestones.
The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, stephanotis, freesia and
orchids.
Matron of honor was Tiffany Boner Watson, formerly of Decatur. She wore a
tea-length red dress and carried a bouquet of red and white roses. Bridesmaids
were Armesha Moody and Stephanie Glowczewski, both of Littleton, Colo., Katie
Lewandowski of Roanoke, and Jessica Eddy, cousin of the bride, of Riverside,
R.I. Bridesmaids wore black gowns accented with velvet ribbon and a rhinestone
broach at the waist. Each carried a bouquet of hand-tied red roses. Elizabeth
Grace Crenshaw of Dallas was the flower girl.
Best man was Dan Dammerman of Charlottesville Va. Groomsmen were Matt Thornton

blusher that was adorned with Swarovski Crystals and a tiara of crystals,
rhinestones and pearls. She also wore satin shoes adorned with seed beads and
pearls.
The bride’s bouquet was a cascade of white Gerber daisies, white roses,
pearl-studded stephanotis, pale green orchids and winter berries.
The matron of honor was Christine Wetzel of Valencia, Calif. and the bridesmaid
was Gina Banic of Hollywood, Calif. They wore cranberry dresses with European
satin princess seam bustiers, A-line skirts and matching wraps. Hand-sewn
rosettes adorned the neckline. They carried nosegays of white roses,
pearl-studded stephanotis, pale green orchid petals and winter berries.
Best man was Ed Williams of Dallas and the groomsman was Todd Pozycki of
Portland, Ore.
The groom and groomsmen wore black, single-breasted tuxedos with shawl lapel

pearl-studded stephanotis, pale green orchid petals and winter berries.

white satin ballet slippers. She carried a Colonial style hand-tied bouquet of
red roses tied with white satin ribbon.

anniversary with a family dinner.

They lived in Pasadena, Texas, Tulsa, Okla., Denver, Colo., and Whitesboro
before moving to Decatur more than eight years ago.
They have two sons, Jim Cox, who is married to Merlene and lives in Bay City,
and Robert Cox of Alvord. They also have six grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
James retired in 1985 from a government career with the General Aviation
Administration. Frances worked many years as an administrative assistant.
Both enjoy traveling and are active in church ministry. James is a licensed
minister with the Assemblies of God and Frances enjoys singing and playing the
piano and organ.

were married April 30, 2005, at Thistle Hill Mansion in Fort Worth. The Rev.
Andrew Decker from the University United Methodist Church officiated the double
ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Barbara Miller of Irving and H.B. “Benny”
Miller Jr. and Gloria Miller of Fort Worth. She was escorted by her father.
The groom is the son of Ronnie and Laverne Dudley of San Antonio.
Matron of honor was Terry Golwas of Keller, formerly of Decatur. Bridesmaids
were Zelina Silva of McAllen, and Elizabeth Crisafulli of West Milford, N.J.,
and Juliet Jefferson of Fort Worth, both cousins of the bride.
Flower girls were Ashlin Crisafulli of West Milford, daughter of Elizabeth
Crisafulli, and Sloan Jefferson of Fort Worth, daughter of Juliet Jefferson.
Ringbearer was Dylan Baker of Trophy Club, nephew of the groom, son of Angela
and Cary Baker.
Best man was Kenneth Mena of San Diego, Calif. Groomsmen were Ronnie Dudley of
San Antonio, father of the groom, Robert Dudley of San Antonio, brother of the
groom, and Thomas Stewart of Austin, nephew of the groom.
Ushers were Brandon Lee of Fort Worth and Rusty Brown of Irving, both brothers
of the bride.
Pianist was Thomas Stewart of Austin and soloist was Hunter Jefferson of Fort
Worth.
A reception was given by the bride and groom and their parents at Thistle Hill
Mansion.
The bride is a 1991 graduate of Decatur High School. She graduated from Stephen
F. Austin University in 1999 with a bachelor of science degree in nursing and
gerontology. She is employed by Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
The groom graduated with a master of science degree in physical therapy from the
University of Texas Health Science Center. He is employed by HealthSouth and
Hoveround.
The couple lives in Fort Worth.

hand-tied with pink satin ribbon.

Lisa Goodman.

surrounded by red roses with Christmas greenery and ivory ribbon.
Matron of honor was Amanda Boyd of Nacogdoches, cousin of the bride. Maid of
honor was Candace Rae Mahaffey of Decatur, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were
Rachel Guthrie of Decatur, sister of the groom, and Margaret Remkus of Austin.

The couple rode in a horse-drawn carriage from the chapel to a reception hosted
by the bride’s parents at the Denton Woman’s Club Meeting.
The bride graduated from Decatur High School in 2002 and the University of Texas
at Austin in December 2004 with a degree in journalism. She was an intern at the
Wise County Messenger and Orange, a magazine publication of the University of
Texas at Austin.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Decatur High School and a 2003 graduate of the
University of Miami where he earned a bachelor of science degree in computer
science. He is employed by Volvo Finance North America in Richardson.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Mabank High School and is employed by Wise
Regional Health System in Decatur.
The prospective groom is a 1993 graduate of Paradise High School and served in
the U.S. Marine Corps. He is employed by the Department of Public safety as a
trooper and by Jet Works Aviation in Denton as an aircraft mechanic.

Dennis and Lavina Knighten of Bridgeport will celebrate their 25th wedding
anniversary Oct. 1, 2005, with a reception at 7 p.m. at the Decatur Lions Club
hosted by their children and friends.
Knighten and the former Lavina Anderson were married Oct. 3, 1980, in Alvord.
They have three children, Renda Cole and Kelsie Knighten, both of Bridgeport,
and Jake Knighten of San Diego.
Dennis is employed by TXI Stone Plant in Bridgeport. Lavina is employed by
Diamond Supermarket in Bridgeport.

Association. A graduate of Decatur High School, she received a master’s degree
from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
The prospective groom is a medical assistant working toward a bachelor’s
degree in nursing from Weatherford College. He is a graduate of Bridgeport High
School.

The bride-elect earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in
2001 and a master’s degree from the University of North Texas in 2003. She
works at Nokia Inc.
The prospective groom graduated from Decatur High School in 1998 and is working
on a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He works for
Sears.

Sarah Kathleen Staples of Fort Worth and Rodney William Lambert of Decatur were
married Jan. 22, 2005, at Robert Carr Chapel in Fort Worth. Dr. Van Gardner
officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Charles and Denise Staples II of Fort Worth. She is
the granddaughter of George W. Staples and Janice Moore, both of Fort Worth.
The groom is the son of Ronald Dean and Lissa Lambert of Decatur.
Escorted by her parents, the bride wore an ivory silk satin gown accented with
beading on the bodice and skirt. Her headpiece was a fingertip veil and a tiara
with Swarovski crystals and pearls. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of Vendella
roses.
Matron of honor was Shanna Snow Patton. Maid of honor was Evangeline Royer.
Bridesmaids were Chanah Sturman Greene, Erin Ranft and Sarah Sturman. Honor
attendants wore chestnut silk dresses with full-length coats and a triple strand
of pearls. They carried hand-tied bouquets of chestnut, ruby and tropicana
roses. Flower girl was Rebecca Marsh and ringbearer was Bryan Marsh.
Best man was Matthew Little. Groomsmen were Jason Bruce, Billy Fitzgerald, Brian
Patton and Shane Smith. Ushers were Lee Haughton, Steven Lambert, and Daniel
Staples and Patrick Staples, brothers of the bride.
Soloist was Linda Poston-Smith. Organist and carillonneur was Emmet G. Smith.
A reception was held at the Fort Worth Club. Music was provided by Inside Out.
The bride earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a
master’s degree from the University of North Texas. She is employed by Nokia.
The groom served in the United States Navy and is pursuing a degree in
engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Debbie Richardson of Boyd.
The groom is the son of David and Gloria Leidel of Arlington.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an organza A-line halter gown with gold
embroidery. She wore a crown with pearls and a two-tier veil scattered with
rhinestones with corded edges.
She carried a bouquet of red, orange and yellow flowers.
The maid of honor was Kacey Renick of Weatherford. Bridesmaids were Brandi
Chapman of Boyd, cousin of the bride, Elizabeth Leidel of Arlington, sister of
the groom, Calee Renick of Weatherford and Brandi Richardson of Navarre, Fla.,
sister-in-law of the bride.
The honor attendants wore black dresses and carried a bouquet of ivory roses
with fall leaves and ribbon.
Flower girl was Charlotte Wilson of Weatherford and ringbearer was Robby Huffman
of Boyd, cousin of the bride.
Best man was Ty Smith of Fort Worth. Groomsmen were Josh Honza, Tim Cameron and
Jeremy Pike, all of Arlington, Chris Richardson of Navarre, brother of the
bride, and Shane Warnick of San Angelo.
Ushers were Matt Jackson of Boyd, Shane Warnick and Jeremy Pike. Soloist was
Amber House of Boyd.
Candlelighters and guest book attendants were Sandy and Katie Moyers of
Bridgeport. Servers were Shasta Lisby of Boyd, cousin of the bride, and Kayla
VanBrunt of Bridgeport.
A reception was given by the bride’s family at the Boyd Community Center.
The bride graduated from Boyd High School in 2001. She is a full-time student at
Collin County Community College studying nursing.
The groom graduatd from Arlington Martin High School in 2000 and the University
of North Texas in 2004. He is employed by Raytheon.
The couple lives in McKinney.

Honor attendants were the bride’s daughter, Shanna Mowery, and granddaughters,
Lauren Richey and Nikki Mowery, all of Bridgeport. Flower girl was Gracie Oates
of Paradise, daughter of Denise Oates.
Groomsmen were Ryan and Taylor Lemon of College Station, sons of the groom, and
Chris Lemon of Waco, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Alan Troup of Wichita Falls and Joshua Lemon of Waco. The guestbook
attendant was Courtney Kennedy of Chico, daughter of Paul and Candi Arrington.
Harpist was Margaret Atkinson of Corinth. The song “Don’t Know Much” by
Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville was also played.
A reception followed in the church fellowship hall. Servers were Rhonda Bennett
of Decatur, Karen Troup of Wichita Falls and Chelsea Lemon of Waco.
The bride is serving her fourth term as Wise County Clerk.
The groom is a graduate of Baylor University and is a sales consultant for
Atkinson Toyota in College Station.

Johnny and Boots Lewis of Decatur celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on
Jan. 28, 2005.
Johnny and the former Boots Browning were married Jan. 28, 1950, in West
Virginia.
They have two children, John Lewis and Leah Lewis, both of Decatur; two
grandchildren, Jenny and Michael Vess of Boyd, and Ray and Leah Peel of Fort
Worth; and four great-grandchildren, Arianna and Peyton Vess and Macie and
Trapper Peel.
Johnny is retired from the U.S. Army and the U.S. Post Office. Boots is a
homemaker.
They celebrated their anniversary with their family at home in Decatur.
The couple are members of Grace Baptist Church in Decatur.

Fiftieth wedding anniversary March

John and Shirley Little of Alvord celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on
Sunday, March 13, with a reception hosted by their children at the home of David
and Shelly Little in Colleyville.
John and the former Shirley Ann Baker were married at the First Church of the
Open Bible in Ottumwa, Iowa.
They have three sons, Daniel Charles of Grapevine, Steven John of Southlake, and
David Paul of Colleyville. They have seven grandchildren and are expecting their
first great-grandchild in May.
John is Vice President of Investments with Prospera Financial Services in
Dallas. They are also involved in farming and ranching.
The couple are members of Lighthouse Assembly of God in Bowie.
